The Barcellos Family Practice is a busy, exciting and varied environment in which to work. 

Our practice, established in 1983 by Dr Albert Barcellos, offers a personal, friendly service to more than 8,000 patients. We aim to treat our patients as we would our own family. 

The practice area includes Ferndown, West Parley, West Moors, Longham, Canford Bottom and Hurn.  We have two health centres — at Corbin Avenue, Tricketts Cross, Ferndown and 54 Glenmoor Road, West Parley. Our patients and services are split evenly across both sites and the management team are based at Corbin Avenue.

Ours is a friendly and hardworking team, who all take great pride in our tradition of promoting and maintaining good health and wellbeing in the local community, in challenging times.

The Barcellos Family Practice is now looking for a friendly experienced receptionist/administrator

18 hours per week - Thursday and Friday 8:30-18:30

Our ideal candidates will have previous reception/administration experience ideally working in a GP practice/community setting. Key requirements include good IT skills and excellent interpersonal skills together with the ability to use own initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients and visitors
  • Answer inbound calls and make outbound calls.
  • Scheduling of appointments
  • Provide information about our services and answer general enquiries
  • Process payments for private work e.g. medicals
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong telephone skills and the ability to handle multiple calls at once in a fast paced environment.
  • Organised with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to follow through on a project/task with a high level of accuracy.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are required. Proficiency in our online system (Systmone) is preferred however training is provided.
